Singapore, Japan Ink Bilateral Energy Climate Framework — OPIS

Singapore and Japan have established a new bilateral Energy, Sustainability, and Climate Change Cooperation Framework to enhance collaboration on energy transition and decarbonization. This framework focuses on cross-border electricity imports, low-carbon hydrogen, carbon capture, and offshore wind, among other areas. It builds on a previous Memorandum of Cooperation and supports both countries' commitments under the Paris Agreement. Singapore aims for net-zero emissions by 2050, while Japan targets a 46% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. The framework includes policy exchanges and financial support to accelerate project deployment.
