NVIDIA is extending its AI computing landscape to Earth orbit.
At the overnight GTC annual developer conference, NVIDIA announced the launch of dedicated computing modules for space scenarios and revealed plans for a space version based on the Vera Rubin architecture, while also releasing the enterprise-level AI intelligent agent platform NemoClaw, showcasing its ambitions in the AI infrastructure field.
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang announced during the keynote speech that six partners, including Aetherflux, Axiom Space, Kepler Communications, Planet, Sophia Space, and Starcloud, will deploy NVIDIA computing hardware in orbit. The company stated that the new modules are aimed at applications such as orbital data centers, advanced geospatial intelligence processing, and autonomous space operations, offering up to 25 times the AI inference computing power compared to the previously launched H100 GPU.
The Vera Rubin space module will be officially launched &#34;at a later date,&#34; while the IGX Thor and Jetson Orin products are currently available. Meanwhile, NVIDIA also released the enterprise-level AI intelligent agent platform NemoClaw, designed to provide enterprises with the capability to deploy local AI autonomous agents with security and privacy guarantees, currently in early Alpha testing.
<h2>Space Computing Layout: From H100 to Vera Rubin</h2>
NVIDIA's foray into space computing dates back to last November. According to Data Center Dynamics, Starcloud sent a NVIDIA H100 GPU aboard a test satellite into orbit last November, marking the first time NVIDIA GPUs have entered space.
The newly released space computing module system covers three levels: the Vera Rubin space module for high-intensity workloads such as orbital data centers, the IGX Thor based on the Blackwell architecture for edge scenarios, and the Jetson Orin suitable for real-time processing of visual, navigation, and sensor data. The IGX Thor and Jetson Orin have officially launched, while the specific release date for the Vera Rubin space module has not been disclosed.
On the partner front, Aetherflux plans to utilize Vera Rubin for solar-powered high-performance AI inference in orbit; Sophia Space will adopt Jetson Orin in its modular platform aimed at satellite operators; Kepler Communications has also chosen Jetson series products.
Jensen Huang stated in his speech: &#34;As we deploy satellite constellations and venture deeper into space exploration, intelligence must exist wherever data is generated. AI processing capabilities bridge space and ground systems, transforming orbital data centers into exploration tools and spacecraft into autonomous navigation systems.&#34;
It is worth noting that NVIDIA released a job posting for a data center system architect earlier this month, stating that this is &#34;an opportunity to join the AI system leader at the dawn of a brand new industry.&#34;
<h2>Competitive Landscape: Google and Musk Enter the Arena</h2>
The space computing sector is attracting major players from various fields. According to Data Center Dynamics, Google plans to launch multiple batches of TPUs into space, having completed tests simulating low Earth orbit radiation environments using particle accelerators, and has reached a small-scale deployment partnership with Planet, with a long-term goal of delivering gigawatt-level computing power to space.
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is also seeking to deploy a constellation of orbital AI data centers on the scale of millions of satellites. It is reported that the relevant satellites will use Tesla's self-developed chips, but the specific timeline remains unclear.
However, the commercial prospects of space data centers are not without skepticism. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, short-seller investor Jim Chanos, AWS CEO Matt Garman, and Gartner analysts have all expressed critical views on this concept.
<h2>NemoClaw: Providing a Secure Foundation for Enterprise AI Agents</h2>
In the field of enterprise AI agents, NVIDIA has simultaneously launched the NemoClaw platform. According to TechCrunch, NemoClaw is built on the open-source local AI autonomous agent project OpenClaw, developed in collaboration with OpenClaw founder Peter Steinberger.
NemoClaw's core positioning is to overlay enterprise-level security and privacy mechanisms on top of OpenClaw, allowing companies to access the platform through a single command and implement unified control over agent behavior and data processing methods. The platform supports the integration of any programming agent or open-source AI model, including NVIDIA's own NemoTron open-source model, and is deeply integrated with NVIDIA's AI agent software suite NeMo. Notably, the platform maintains open compatibility at the hardware level and does not need to run on NVIDIA's own GPUs.
Jensen Huang compared the emergence of OpenClaw to historic moments in the history of Linux, Kubernetes, and HTML, stating: &#34;Every company today needs to formulate an OpenClaw strategy, a strategy for an agent system.&#34;
Currently, NemoClaw is still in the early Alpha stage, and NVIDIA has acknowledged in its developer-facing documentation on its official website that &#34;roughness is expected&#34; and is working towards production-ready sandbox orchestration capabilities. The competition for enterprise-level AI agent platforms has become intense—OpenAI launched its enterprise-facing open platform OpenAI Frontier in February this year, and Gartner released a report last December listing AI agent governance platforms as key infrastructure for enterprises adopting AI technology
