Tencent (00700.HK) issued an internal notice stating the removal of the enterprise-level AI laboratory (AILab). The personnel from the original AILab have been reassigned to the large language model department and the industry-academia-research cooperation center. Tencent's Vice President Jiang Jie will no longer serve as the head of AILab, while other positions remain unchanged. According to the Southern Metropolis Daily, after the adjustment, some personnel from the original AI Lab have been moved to the Hunyuan team and will report to Yao Shunyu, while the industry-academia-research cooperation center remains, with the head of the multimodal department reporting to TEG President Lu Shan.

Tencent AILab was established in 2016 as Tencent's enterprise-level AI laboratory, focusing on fundamental research in the AI field, including areas such as vision, language, natural processing, and machine learning.

Recently, Tencent President Liu Chunning mentioned that in terms of large models, Tencent has been intensively upgrading the entire team and restructuring workflows over the past few months. The purpose of the restructuring is mainly to make the team more robust and the organizational structure more reasonable, while also rebuilding the entire pre-training and reinforcement learning infrastructure and further improving data quality. The training of the Hunyuan large model 3.0 is currently in the internal testing phase and is preparing for a gradual external rollout in April
