U.S. Petrochemical Prices Rise as Investors Watch Iran War
As supply disruptions related to the war in Iran boost demand for U.S. products, prices for petrochemicals, the basic raw materials for making plastics, continue to soar along the U.S. Gulf Coast.
U.S. spot ethylene prices rose to about 30 cents/lb from 27 cents the previous week, reaching a new high since February 2025. Polymer-grade propylene (PGP) climbed to 49.5 cents, the highest since August 2024. Butadiene jumped to 58.5 cents/lb, hitting its highest level since May 2025.
