Fastned cuts ad-hoc charging price in Germany to 69 cents/kWh

In September, the German federal government decided to temporarily reduce grid fees and later announced a federal subsidy of 6.5 billion euros to implement this reduction in 2026. However, there is no uniform fixed amount per kilowatt-hour across the country; the government refers to an average reduction of 2 cents/kWh, though individual deviations may occur. It also remains unclear whether such a federal subsidy will be available again in 2027.Dutch fast-charging provider Fastned intends to pass on the reduced grid fees—which also apply to the electricity supply for charging stations—to its customers after a three-month delay. However, the price reduction in the ad-hoc tariff amounts to 4 cents/kWh, double the average value cited by the federal government for the grid fee reduction.Specifically, from 1 April 2026, the ad-hoc charging price at Fastned in Germany will drop from 73 to 69 cents/kWh. This applies to users who pay directly at the charging station with a card. At the same time, customers registered in the Fastned app can continue to benefit from the 10 per cent discount introduced in January if they use a debit or credit card as their default payment method within the app. This means that, in the app, the price will fall to 62 cents/kWh instead of the previous 65 cents/kWh.Making fast charging even more attractive“An attractive charging experience is not just about good design and high reliability, but also about a fair price. Thanks to the reduced grid fees, we can offer a lower price in Germany from 1 April and make fast charging more appealing to even more people,” says Fastned Germany CEO Linda Boll.Customers with the so-called Gold Membership will also benefit from lower prices: here, the price per kWh will drop from 51 to 48 cents. The Gold Membership is a monthly subscription costing 11.99 euros, which provides a 30 percent discount on the base price.Prices to rise in Belgium, France, and SwitzerlandThe aforementioned prices apply only in Germany. However, Fastned has also announced a price reduction in Denmark from 1 April, with ad-hoc prices dropping from 4.99 to 3.79 DKK. Meanwhile, charging with Fastned will become more expensive in Belgium, France, and Switzerland: in Belgium, the ad-hoc price will rise from 73 to 77 cents/kWh; in France, from 59 to 61 cents/kWh; and in Switzerland, from 73 to 75 rappen/kWh.
