Shanghai Electric has successfully completed the world's first large-scale bunkering of a vessel with biomethanol for international shipping at Yangshan Port, Shanghai. The operation involved the CMA CGM container ship OSMIUM and marks a significant step in the company's role in developing clean hydrogen and next-generation fuel technologies. The biomethanol, produced at Shanghai Electric's facility in Taonan, offers a sustainable alternative to traditional methanol, significantly reducing carbon emissions and supporting the decarbonization of maritime transport. The project aims to produce 50,000 tons of biomethanol annually, adhering to international fuel standards.
