The new regulations for electronic payments in taxis will be implemented starting tomorrow (April 1). All taxis must provide passengers with at least two electronic payment methods, including one QR code and one non-QR code option. The Transport Department stated that over 47,000 taxi drivers have installed the commercial version of the Octopus App or equipped their vehicles with Octopus mobile payment machines.
The Transport Department indicated that to facilitate drivers in installing electronic payment media, dedicated service stations set up at three government parking lots in Sheung Wan, Kwai Fong, and Tsuen Wan will be open until this Saturday (April 4), and over 3,000 drivers have made appointments so far
