Some production may gradually resume in the coming days, but the pace of capacity ramp-up remains unclear. It is worth noting that any large-scale output recovery depends on vessels being able to pass through the Strait of Hormuz smoothly. The Ras Laffan facility has been offline since early March, directly leading to a global natural gas supply shortage. This shutdown, coupled with physical damage from a missile attack last month, has cast doubt on the market's expectations for the medium-to-long-term recovery of Qatar's export capacity. Facility Offline for Over a Month, Global Gas Supply Under Pressure The Ras Laffan facility is the world's largest LNG export facility by capacity, with an annual output of 77 million tons. The facility has been completely shut down since early March, causing a significant tightening of global natural gas supply. In addition to the pressure from the shutdown, the facility was also hit by a missile attack last month. The associated damage has impacted approximately 17% of Qatar's annual export capacity, with repair periods estimated to last up to five years.
