The Monetary Authority announced that it will hold a technical briefing for stablecoin issuers today (10th) at 5 PM. The technical briefing will be hosted by the Vice President of the Monetary Authority, Chan Wai-man, Assistant Vice President (Regulation and Anti-Money Laundering) Chan King-hung, Assistant Vice President (Currency Management) Ho Hon-kit, and Head (Digital Finance) Ho Hung-cheung. Following this, licensed stablecoin issuers will meet with the media.

The list of the first batch of stablecoin issuers was not announced as scheduled in March. A spokesperson for the Monetary Authority previously responded that the authorities are fully advancing the licensing process and will make announcements to the public in due course.

It is rumored that at least two of the institutions that have been granted stablecoin issuer licenses are the note-issuing banks HSBC and STANCHART
