Ning Hanhao: The land leveling and infrastructure construction in the four new districts of Beidu is advancing at full speed, with a draft of the exclusive legislation to be submitted this year
The Legislative Council's Finance Committee held a special meeting, where Secretary for Development Ning Hanhao stated that the total budget for the Planning and Lands Department and its sub-departments for this fiscal year is approximately HKD 7.761 billion, similar to last year.
Ning Hanhao pointed out that advancing the development of the Northern Metropolis remains a top priority for the coming year. Among the nine new development areas in the Northern Metropolis, land leveling and infrastructure projects for four of them are already in full swing. If funding is approved by the Legislative Council, the projects for the University Town at Niu Tan Wai, the first phase of the New Tin Technology City, and the joint government office building in Kwu Tung North will also commence this year. The goal is to submit a bill for the "Accelerated Development of the Northern Metropolis" to the Legislative Council by mid-year, aiming to complete the legislative work within the year.
She mentioned that a briefing on the concept of "Urban-Rural Integration" will be presented to the Legislative Council's Development Affairs Committee by mid-year, including details of the proposed HKD 200 million "Northern Metropolis Urban-Rural Integration Fund" pilot scheme. If funding is approved by the Legislative Council, the relevant fund will be established within this year
