Earnings Scoreboard: 20 of 21 financials beat earnings; revenue mixed
In this week's earnings recap, 21 companies from the S&P 500 Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF) reported quarterly results. 19 out of 21 companies beat earnings estimates, while revenue performance was mixed with 15 companies exceeding expectations. Year-over-year, all companies reported growth. Notable performers included JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, and Bank of America, while Fifth Third Bancorp was the only company to meet earnings expectations but miss on revenue. The XLF has improved QTD, gaining 5.39%, but still lags behind the SPY's 7.08% rebound, indicating renewed investor confidence in the sector.
