
Pan Gongsheng meets with senior officials from European countries and executives from financial institutions
The Governor of the People's Bank of China, Pan Gongsheng, attended the International Monetary Fund/World Bank Annual Meetings from April 15 to 17, where he met with senior European officials including the Governor of the Bank of France, François Villeroy de Galhau, the Economic Secretary to the Treasury and Minister for the City of London, Andrew Griffith, the European Commissioner for Financial Services, Mairead McGuinness, and the President of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), Klaus Regling, to discuss the economic and financial situation between China and Europe as well as China-Europe financial cooperation.
At the same time, Governor Pan held meetings with senior officials from emerging economies and developing countries, including the Governor of the Central Bank of Brazil, Roberto Campos Neto, the Governor of the Bank of Korea, Lee Chang-yong, the Argentine Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Argentina, Miguel Pesce, the Finance Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar, and the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, Jameel Ahmad, the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Nandalal Weerasinghe, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Saddek El Kaber, to exchange views on the global economic situation and deepening practical financial cooperation.
In addition, Governor Pan met with executives from financial institutions, including the Global CEO of the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT), Javier Pérez-Tasso, the President of International Banking at Bank of America and CEO of Merrill International, Andy Sieg, to discuss the global economic situation and dynamics of financial markets
