The Director of the Development Bureau, Ning Hanhao, stated at the event that with the support of the central government and the joint efforts of the government departments and professional societies of both regions, significant breakthroughs have been achieved in deepening the regulatory alignment and mechanism connection between Guangdong and Hong Kong. This includes the introduction of a professional title evaluation mechanism applicable to engineering professionals in Hong Kong in 2023, which opens up the pathway for Hong Kong professionals to obtain professional titles in the mainland. In just a few years, the title mechanism has covered 10 construction and engineering-related professions in Hong Kong, with approximately 580 professionals from the engineering and other industries obtaining professional titles in the mainland.

She pointed out that in 2024, the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers will also form a joint body with the engineering institutions and associations of Guangdong Province and Macau, creating a Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Engineers Alliance. Last year, they issued the "Bay Area Standards" of the "General Specification for Engineering Capability Evaluation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area," establishing a unified standard for the professional level of engineers within the Greater Bay Area, facilitating the integration of engineering professional standards in the region and promoting the construction of a unified market in the Greater Bay Area.

In March of this year, the National People's Congress passed the "14th Five-Year Plan Outline," which points out the direction for the future of the construction industry, requiring the consolidation and enhancement of the industry's global position and competitiveness, promoting the application of technological innovation, as well as digital intelligence and green development.

Ning Hanhao expressed that the SAR government hopes that the engineering profession will more actively leverage its advantages of being backed by the motherland and connected to the world, utilizing its familiarity with international construction standards and rich application experience, combined with the robust engineering technology and supply chain in the mainland, to complement each other's strengths and jointly build the "China Construction" brand, helping the country promote advanced construction and water conservancy infrastructure technologies, materials, and products to the world
