The hotel industry in Macau is optimistic about the "May Day" guest volume, hoping to improve internal efficiency to absorb the cost of oil prices
According to the Macao Daily News, with the "May Day" Golden Week approaching, Zhang Jianzhong, president of the Macao Hotel Industry Association, stated that the travel enthusiasm of mainland visitors during "May Day" is expected to continue to rise, and he is confident about the number of visitors to Macao. The sharp rise in international oil prices has somewhat affected the operating costs of the hotel industry, but he hopes to enhance efficiency through internal measures to absorb some of the additional costs, ensuring that travelers have a better value-for-money experience.
The industry is optimistic and confident about the visitor numbers during "May Day." Hotel room bookings have already formed a predictable trend, including the increasing prevalence of electronic bookings, with travelers often confirming their itineraries only close to the holiday. Therefore, the growth in hotel room bookings will be concentrated in the days leading up to the holiday, with subsequent booking data expected to rise rapidly. He emphasized that both the government and the industry attach great importance to managing fluctuations in hotel room prices and value-for-money during the holiday period. Currently, the industry is seeing a high level of self-discipline, with a strong focus on quality management and price management.
Fluctuations in international oil prices have impacted various industries. Zhang Jianzhong pointed out that the hotel industry is also affected, such as the pressure from internal boiler costs and transportation costs. However, the Macao hotel industry has reached a consensus to maintain the current room price levels and enhance efficiency through internal measures to absorb some of the additional costs, ensuring that travelers have a better value-for-money experience when visiting Macao
