Bessent: US Allies in the Persian Gulf and Asia Request Swap Lines
US Treasury Secretary Bessent stated that many Persian Gulf allies and some Asian countries have requested foreign exchange swap lines with the United States, noting that such arrangements have the potential to support overseas dollar-denominated loans.
"Many of our Gulf allies have requested swap lines," Bessent said while answering questions before the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee. The day before, President Trump confirmed that the United States is considering currency swaps with the United Arab Emirates. "Many other countries, including some of our Asian allies, have also made requests."
