Nuclear reactor developer X-Energy (XE.O) on course to jump in Nasdaq debut on Fri after well-received IPO

Its IPO comes amid renewed interest in nuclear power, and as electricity needs surge, particularly from hyperscalers, to power AI data centers Cloud giant AMZN first invested in XE in 2024, anchoring a $500 mln financing alongside Ken Griffin, CEO and founder of hedge fund Citadel, and affiliates of Ares Management (ARES.N)
Prior to the offering, AMZN was a 29% shareholder

- Nuclear reactor developer X-Energy is set to debut on Nasdaq after a successful IPO, with shares expected to open at $29 compared to the $23 issue price.  
- The Rockville, Maryland-based firm raised about $1.02 billion by selling approximately 44.3 million shares, revising its initial offering from around 42.9 million shares priced between $16 and $19.  
- Founded in 2009, X-Energy develops small modular reactor technology and has received backing from Amazon, which aims to meet the growing electricity demands for AI data centers.
