The three major US stock indices ebbed back, with downfall ranging from 0.1% to 0.3%, as the market was on the sideline for the US inflation data due later this week and monitored developments in the Middle East.

This morning (11th), the HSI opened at 25,998, up 61 pts or 0.24%; the HSTECH opened at 4,932, up 13 pts or 0.27%; and the HSCEI opened at 8,654, up 32 pts or 0.37%.

Spot gold rebounded above USD4,400 per ounce, lifting some gold mining and jewelry stocks.
