South Korean tech giant Samsung is not willing to fall behind and is developing its own artificial intelligence (AI) robot. According to recent reports from South Korean media, it has been confirmed that Samsung Electronics is collaborating with Microsoft to develop an AI chatbot for internal use. This robot, powered by OpenAI's large language model (LLM), will assist in tasks such as document summarization and translation. The media explains that Microsoft and OpenAI have signed an exclusive licensing agreement, which stipulates that OpenAI can only provide services to enterprises on Microsoft's Azure cloud. In this case, Samsung is utilizing the GPT-4 and GPT-3.5 application programming interfaces (APIs) provided by Azure's open AI services to develop an in-house generative AI tool. The media has received confirmation from Microsoft insiders that Samsung is currently preparing to conceptually validate the models using Azure's API services. Previous reports mentioned that Samsung had started developing enterprise chatbots based on AI concepts due to the increasing demand for business innovation using generative AI. Samsung had temporarily disabled these AI tools out of concern that running generative AI, such as ChatGPT, on internal computers could potentially leak proprietary enterprise data. However, from the recent news, it seems that Samsung is not worried about data security as it chooses to collaborate with Microsoft in developing its own chatbot. According to media reports citing statements from Samsung representatives, the development of the chatbot began around June, and there are still many variables involved, so specific information cannot be disclosed at this time. Last month, OpenAI released ChatGPT Enterprise, targeting large enterprises, and is actively expanding its user base in the enterprise market, directly competing with its major investor and partner, Microsoft. According to OpenAI, in addition to performing tasks such as writing emails, drafting documents, and debugging computer code like regular ChatGPT, the enterprise version offers twice the speed of regular GPT-4, a larger window, enterprise-level security and privacy, as well as advanced data analysis capabilities. Enterprise customers can train and customize ChatGPT based on their own data. OpenAI also plans to launch a small business version called ChatGPT Business. Microsoft has already provided access to ChatGPT for enterprises through its Azure OpenAI service and offers Bing Chat Enterprise functionality to some Microsoft 365 enterprise customers.
