CATL to sharpen focus on sodium-ion batteries
CATL is intensifying its focus on sodium-ion batteries, planning large-scale deployment in various applications including battery swap stations and vehicles. This shift is driven by rising lithium prices, which have surged over 50% recently, increasing costs for lithium-ion batteries. CATL, a pioneer in sodium-ion technology, aims to establish a 'Dual-Star' trend with both battery types. The company has introduced its Naxtra brand, targeting energy densities of up to 175 Wh/kg for passenger cars, as an alternative to lithium-ion batteries.
