Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg urges Meta to explore collaboration with Polymarket and Kalshi

Three informed employees revealed that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is urging executives to negotiate partnerships with popular prediction trading platforms Polymarket and Kalshi. Currently, Meta is developing a similar application. The application being built by Meta is called Arena, where users can bet on various events. The scale of the prediction trading sector is continuously expanding, and Meta hopes to get a share of it. Senior executives within the company stated that Arena is fundamentally different from Polymarket and Kalshi, which support cash betting: the application will use virtual points similar to online game credits instead of real money. Three unnamed employees said that Zuckerberg has listed Arena as a core priority project, with a more far-reaching layout plan than previously understood. He has asked company executives to proactively connect with Polymarket and Kalshi, but the specific form of cooperation between the two parties has yet to be determined. Employees added that the target user group for Arena is people aged 18 to 34, and Meta plans to achieve at least 100 million monthly active prediction users for this application. The platform's main scenario is users making predictions with friends and family on various events related to sports, entertainment, politics, and finance. Internal executives define it as a "universally applicable" product. Meta's Vice President of Product for the Arena project, Ime Archibong, introduced the product in an internal announcement last month, which was obtained by the media. He wrote, "We believe that prediction betting is a highly promising new content sector. As long as we build the right platform, users will engage in social discussions to showcase their accurate predictive abilities to friends, which is the core value of this product."
