5 Trillion Dollar Opportunity! AI Consumes Not Just Power: Water and Metals Face Critical Shortages
Wallstreetcn·
- The expansion of AI data centers is triggering significant resource impacts across electricity, water, and critical metals, which the market has not adequately priced.
- As of now, over 11,200 data centers exist globally, with AI-specific computing power tripling in the last 18 months, and projected capacities reaching 200 GW by 2030, demanding approximately $7 trillion in investment.
- This surge in data center infrastructure is reshaping global power systems and causing urgent concerns about water consumption and metal supply chains, revealing a need for better planning and technological adaptations to meet future demands.
