IMHO, the oil chart looks like a bull trap. I have already sold off oil related names like Exxon Mobil and Chevron at these levels.

Good luck trying to time an exit like this

Context: Trump again thought that he will strangle Iran by imposing what he dubbed as mother of all economic sanction. Before the Iran, Iran's GDP was at $475.25 billion in 2024 then fell to $420–$460 in 2025. Inflation was high at 40-50%, it was during early 2026 that mass protests begin to erupt and caused 30+k civilians killed by Iran authorities. It was after this that Trump attacked Iran thinking that after killing it's top leaders, the civilians will take this opportunities to force a regime change. It did did not happen. There might be dissidents but it were not enough to take down Iran government and neither will the mother of all economic sanction force Iranian to topple their government.

My trade: maintain, wait and see

Takeaway: Economic sanction is nothing to Iranian who are willing to sacrifice themselves for the country and their belief.

Context:

Exxon Mobil is one of the stocks I use to balance my high beta tech stocks amongst others. They tend to move up when tech moves lower and move lower when tech moves higher. What I use to generate some alpha rather than hold cash which stagnates. Having said that, cash is still an important tool to hedge.

My trade:

Closed - Oil seems to have completed five waves off the bottom and a pullback seems imminent.

Takeaway: The pullback will determine position. A languid three wave pullback into the typical wave 2 Fib levels favours a third wave whereas a sharp impulse down past 76.4 shifts probability towards still an ongoing bigger 4th. Price action at 200MA around the 142 level will be telling.

The Iran US 60 days ceasefire has ended and immediately there were reports of explosion and ship struck in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump also said on social media that there are no talks or conversations going on, or scheduled, with Iran, which could be one of the various reasons why the market indexes are pulling back slightly amidst the push for newer highs.

AI and semiconductor demand continue to drive the market, with strong growth in memory, semiconductors and AI infrastructure. The market continues to favour companies with strong earnings, pricing power and clear exposure to AI driven growth.Geo higher oil prices and global growth concerns are adding some uncertainty. Recently the markets are uncertain of their movements. Either up in the few hours then drop. So invest safely DCA.
