Likes ReceivedHere's something quite amusing. With the Paris Olympics just around the corner,
Paris needs a lot of Olympic-themed merchandise, including the ugly-cute mascot les phryges (which is actually a type of hat, as shown in the image below).
Parisians, or rather the French in general, have been riding a wave of nationalism lately. So they thought,
why not keep all that demand and those massive orders within France? Why let the fat water flow to outsiders' fields?
After extensive research,
the French came to a conclusion:
"We'd love to find factories in France capable of producing 2 million mascot toys in a few months, but they simply don't exist. It's a structural issue - France has lost its manufacturing base."
And so, as you might have guessed, the vast majority of these orders ended up going to—you guessed it—Yiwu.
