A few days ago I talked with my friend from NXP. In fact, innovation at the chip level is still very fast in cars. China has pushed competition to the extreme in areas outside of chips. The next bottleneck for innovation might be in automotive chips. Of course, most people don't feel the impact of innovation at the chip level.
