Motional was initially started when Aptiv lacked funds but wanted to develop autonomous driving technology, so they partnered with Hyundai to share the costs. This is similar to how Autoliv collaborated with Volvo, or how Bosch and Mercedes-Benz worked together.

The goal of component suppliers partnering with automakers is to secure major clients, then develop products and find channels to monetize. However, the rapid pace of development in this field, especially the iteration speed of Chinese components, is too fast. For these foreign suppliers, continuing to rely solely on R&D centers and automakers in Europe and America is becoming less cost-effective.

Of course, for Hyundai Motor, whether it's robotics or autonomous driving, they are committed to this track. They are doing it through joint ventures, domestically in South Korea, and even sourcing suppliers in China to learn from their rapid development.
