As one of the first traditional automakers to commit to a full electric vehicle target by 2030, Volvo has firmly stated its intention to phase out internal combustion engine vehicles, including hybrids. It has also launched a series of electric vehicles, such as the affordable EX30 and the larger EX90.

However, recent remarks by Volvo CEO Jim Rowan have raised questions. While he expressed confidence in electric propulsion, he also mentioned that hybrids could serve as a transitional "bridge" due to varying market acceptance rates, and Volvo would continue investing in hybrid product lines. In the first half of this year, Volvo's EV sales declined in the U.S. but remained strong in Europe and other markets. A Volvo spokesperson stated that electrification is the future trend, but the transition will not be linear.

What do you think? Can Volvo achieve its goal on schedule? Will all engine-powered vehicles be phased out?
