
BYD's sales in Brazil reached 32,562 units, while Chery's sales in Brazil and Mexico were 27,969 and 10,936 units respectively. Great Wall Motors also achieved significant sales in Brazil and Mexico. However, Brazil has gradually reinstated import taxes since January this year, progressively increasing the rates for electric vehicles (EVs), hybrid vehicles, and plug-in hybrid vehicles, which has impacted EV sales. The Mexican market is also under pressure, limiting opportunities for Chinese EVs in the Americas. Overall, the Americas market is more suitable for the sales of gasoline and hybrid vehicles.
