In 2024, after the pandemic, chip shortages and demand smoothing, the core question now is where automakers' profits come from. Looking at North America, due to the US government's stimulus policies, General Motors, Ford, Toyota and Hyundai-Kia have all made substantial profits. Profit margins in other auto markets aren't really impressive - average vehicle prices tell the story clearly.
