Methanol energy is a promising clean energy source in China besides electricity. It has many advantages. In terms of cost, China leads the world in methanol production capacity with mature technology and relatively low costs, ensuring stable fuel supply. Regarding refueling, although the lack of supporting infrastructure in some markets currently limits its promotion, companies are actively improving the refueling network. Environmentally, methanol boasts high combustion efficiency and clean emissions. Large-scale use in transportation can help reduce crude oil imports and lower greenhouse gas emissions, contributing significantly to achieving the "carbon neutrality" goal. Its production process can also reduce carbon emissions in the chemical industry. In terms of safety, although it imposes higher requirements on car engines and fuel systems, companies like Geely have already overcome these challenges.
However, the application of methanol energy also faces some difficulties. On one hand, the lack of supporting infrastructure and insufficient refueling stations limits its promotion speed in some markets. On the other hand, although the high requirements for components have been overcome, the long-term performance of car engines and fuel systems under methanol fuel usage still needs continuous monitoring to ensure sustained safety and stability.
Geely Group is a leader in the methanol vehicle sector, having been at the forefront for many years. As early as 2010, it began developing methanol vehicles and introduced achievements like the "Alcohol-Hydrogen Power" ultra-methanol hybrid technology. It has deployed multiple methanol-powered vehicle models covering commercial and passenger vehicles, with cumulative mileage exceeding 10 million kilometers, verifying both reliability and cost-effectiveness. Geely is also actively promoting infrastructure development and has expanded into over 30 overseas markets, with plans to cover more regions in the future. This sets a benchmark for China's new energy technology "going global" and plays a significant role in advancing methanol energy development.
