Raising tariffs is like the U.S. refusing to order takeout, while China is the restaurant, and other China-friendly countries are the delivery drivers.
Will you starve if you don't order takeout? No.
But the restaurant's operating costs remain, and if it loses customers, the only solution is to cut production.
This is the slow-boil-the-dragon tactic, using time to erode the opponent's advantage.
The Pull-the-Rug-from-Under-Taiwan Tactic
Now the restaurant has to cut production while forcing its staff and delivery drivers to eat in-house, creating an internal cycle to compensate for the lost sales from big clients.
But obviously, this isn't enough. On top of that, the big client is aggressively pressuring the delivery drivers, forbidding them from patronizing this restaurant!
Over time, internal tensions build up in the restaurant, and it must find a way to redirect the conflict.
So it starts brainwashing the staff and delivery drivers, blaming the neighboring Taiwanese restaurant for stealing their recipes and reporting them to health and safety authorities, causing a massive drop in sales.
For all sorts of reasons, they grab their tools and go after the Taiwanese restaurant, while also teaching a lesson to other small stalls and uncooperative delivery drivers!
Once the fight starts, the U.S. reaps the rewards.
This tactic has been used on the Russian and Japanese restaurants before—it never fails.
So what should the old Chinese restaurant do?
Don’t let others lead you by the nose—stick to your own rhythm.
Start internal reforms!
When people see hope, they’ll naturally bring their capital back to invest!
Who doesn’t love their old home? There’s still sentiment there!
The real fear is a honey trap—I love you to death, but you just see me as a naive investor, not satisfied with scamming me once but wanting to do it a thousand times?
