Oregon, along with 11 other states, today filed a lawsuit challenging the legality of the Trump administration's tariff policies. The lawsuit has been submitted to the U.S. Court of International Trade, arguing that the tariffs imposed under the pretext of emergency powers are illegal. This lawsuit is crucial—it's not about politics but about protecting workers and families from economic harm and restoring the certainty and predictability that all businesses need to thrive.
A coalition of 12 U.S. states jointly sued the Trump administration on the 23rd, accusing its tariff policies of being unlawful.
The attorneys general of Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, and Vermont filed the lawsuit in the U.S. Court of International Trade in New York, calling the Trump administration's tariff policies "whimsical rather than a legitimate exercise of authority." They demanded the court declare the "reciprocal tariffs" illegal and block their implementation.
