On the importance of long-term investment:

During the 8-day National Day holiday, the bustling A-share market can take a break.

However, the Hong Kong stock market will open on October 2. Since my current Hong Kong stock investments are mainly through the Stock Connect, and the brokerage's system is under maintenance from October 1 to 4, it's not just about whether trading is possible—I can't even log in. It's all about leaving it to fate, win or lose.

Fortunately, I usually don’t monitor the market closely, only occasionally "scratching a lottery ticket" to check performance during lunch or dinner.

Now, even the chance to "scratch a lottery ticket" is gone.

So, it's time for gatherings, taking the kids out, reading, running…

Tonight, I can finally log in normally. Quickly went to "scratch a lottery ticket" and check—not bad, thanks to Alibaba, the holiday bonus was given by Papa Ma 🫶

It really doesn’t seem any different. In fact, because I couldn’t log in, I paid less attention, and not trading didn’t affect the ups and downs. This is the advantage of long-term investing. Whether it makes money or not, at least I don’t have to worry too much. Eat when it’s time to eat, drink when it’s time to drink.

But I still can’t help but criticize the brokerage. Since they offer Stock Connect services, how can they not even allow logins when the Hong Kong market is open? Isn’t that too much? What if it were short-term trading? Is it really all up to fate?

If anyone knows a brokerage where Stock Connect works normally during holidays, please share which one it is. I’m thinking of switching. Even though I probably won’t trade in a few days, it’s better to be prepared.
