IBM says key quantum computing algorithm can run on conventional AMD chips
IBM has successfully run a key quantum computing algorithm on AMD's conventional chips, marking progress in the commercialization of quantum computers. This achievement comes as IBM competes with Microsoft and Google's Alphabet in the quantum race. The algorithm, designed to address qubit errors, operates in real-time on AMD's field programmable gate arrays and is reported to be ten times faster than necessary. IBM aims to develop a quantum computer named Starling by 2029, with this algorithm work completed a year ahead of schedule.
