Where do retail investors lose? Not in capital, but in "dimensions"—institutions view the market in three dimensions, while retail investors only see one. As retail investors, we don't need to start trading immediately, but we must understand the interplay of three markets:
When spot prices surge but futures remain in contango, it means institutions are short hedging, possibly signaling a top;
When put option trading volume spikes in the options market, it means institutions are buying "insurance," warning of downside risks;
When the futures position leaderboard shows institutions significantly increasing long positions while spot prices haven't risen yet, it could be a lurking opportunity.
