Nikkei: UBS Securities estimated the impact on operating profits if duty-free sales to Chinese customers were halved, targeting the seven companies with the largest sales to tourists visiting Japan (J.FRONT, Takashimaya, Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings, Pan Pacific International Holdings, ABC-MART, MUJI, and Fast Retailing). The result was a 3% decline compared to the company's plan for this fiscal year. Japanese companies are working to reduce their reliance on Chinese customers. Takashimaya has launched a service that issues VIP cards to customers at its Singapore stores and prioritizes duty-free procedures in Japan, and is also considering expanding operations in Vietnam and Thailand. J.FRONT will implement special activities such as home delivery services to strengthen promotions targeting Japan's affluent class.
