$XIAOMI-W(01810.HK) How many billions did the short positions short sell Xiaomi from 2025-09-29 to 2026-01-30? What was the average holding cost during that period? Since I was very curious but the app showed inaccurate or missing data, I organized the data for this period based on my own logic. The numbers might have some deviations but are generally quite close. The picture below is my result.
In summary, the average short selling price for the short positions was lower than I imagined. The short selling was concentrated at 43 or even below 40. In fact, the stock price didn't continue to fall sharply during this period. I think this is not good news for the short positions.
Once short selling stops, Xiaomi rebounds to 40.86 and a short squeeze occurs. But if short selling continues, the average short selling price will drop further. I think with the stock price moving sideways, the short positions are really in a dilemma.
Another important thing that everyone hasn't realized is that Stock Connect (for Hong Kong), plus share repurchases, plus some retail brokerage platforms, took in about 1.6 billion shares during this period. Short positions sold about 800 million shares short, so the rest is foreign capital outflow.
What's very interesting is that the foreign capital outflow and the short selling volume are almost 1:1. Short positions will eventually have to close their positions, but foreign capital that has flowed out may not necessarily buy back. Foreign capital is essentially genuinely not optimistic about Xiaomi. If I have time later, I'll analyze the weekly selling by foreign capital during this period.
Bros in the group, is this information useful? I also hope more people see it @Turtle Style Investment@Passionate Youth@Toothpick
