Tesla Semi Long Range Version Priced at $290,000
Tesla's Semi long-range version with a range of 500 miles is now priced at $290,000, an increase of about 60% from the initial $180,000 promised in 2017. The standard range version (325 miles) is priced at about $260,000.
Despite the price increase, the average selling price of Tesla's Semi electric truck ($435,000) is still about $145,000 lower than comparable products. The Semi truck has a range of 500 miles, a peak charging power of 1.2 megawatts, an energy consumption efficiency of 1.7 kWh/mile, and is equipped with three 800-kilowatt motors.
Mass production is expected to be achieved this year, with California's High-Value Vehicle Incentive Program vouchers and Uber Freight discounts helping to reduce actual costs. Tesla positions the Semi as a product that can compete with diesel trucks, with a local distribution investment payback period of about 4 years.
