90% of Iran's oil reserves and almost all of its refining capacity are concentrated in Khuzestan Province. If this region were to be "trusteeship" or establish a so-called "independent sovereignty," the remaining territories of Iran (Tehran, Isfahan, etc.) would instantly become barren high-altitude wastelands.

The western and southern parts of Khuzestan Province are the vast Mesopotamian plain, separated from Iran's core areas (such as Tehran, Isfahan) by the towering and rugged Zagros Mountains.

It's unclear whether they will first attack Kharg Island this weekend, from which 90% of Iran's oil is exported.

Iran's terrain is such that anyone who can launch a ground offensive is a legend; landing at Hormuz is even harder than at Normandy. 🤣🤣
