
Currently, a strong US dollar index and high oil prices are unlikely to coexist for long. A strong dollar itself acts as a ceiling for crude oil prices. More critically, if the recession expectations implied by the current yield curve materialize, the demand side for crude oil will face systematic pressure, directly undermining the logical foundation for "sustained high oil prices."
