CALB's Aviation-Grade Batteries Begin Mass Production, Pioneering the Large-Scale Delivery of Batteries for Flying Cars

On March 25, the top-tier cylindrical battery system powering XPeng AeroHT's X3-F (Land Aircraft Carrier) flying car began mass production at CALB's Chengdu factory. It is understood that this newly launched power battery product utilizes CALB's globally pioneering "top-tier cylindrical" battery technology. This "top-tier" high-energy flight battery boasts an energy density of 360Wh/kg, making it the solid-liquid hybrid cylindrical battery with the highest energy density in the industry. It achieves an excellent balance between high safety, high power density, and high energy density, strictly meeting aviation-grade safety standards, and will be applied to multiple XPeng AeroHT flying car models.

The collaboration between the two parties began in 2022, with CALB assisting XPeng AeroHT in completing the maiden flight of the world's first electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) flying car. After undergoing a series of rigorous validations, the reliability of CALB's battery products has been fully tested. Seizing this opportunity, CALB organized its leading R&D resources to focus on the next-generation "top-tier cylindrical" battery, launching special research projects targeting a series of fundamental scientific and technical challenges. It also led a consortium, including XPeng AeroHT, to secure support from the National Key R&D Program, effectively advancing the international leadership of corresponding aviation power battery intrinsic safety and high specific energy technologies. Based on this, the two parties signed a deepened strategic cooperation agreement in April 2025, establishing an exclusive supply relationship for next-generation models.

From leading the National Key R&D Program to tackle "top-tier cylindrical" technology, to now being the first to achieve mass production and delivery of flying car batteries, CALB's strategic positioning in forward-looking emerging sectors is accelerating its realization. The continuous strengthening of its commercialization capabilities across diverse application scenarios is opening up new growth space for it in the competition for next-generation energy technologies.
