Amazon is charging many online merchants a 3.5% fuel surcharge.
Later this month, Amazon will join the ranks of transportation companies raising shipping rates by imposing a 3.5% "fuel and inflation" surcharge on sellers using its shipping services. Currently, the war in Iran is pushing up oil prices. Customers in the United States and Canada use the company's "Fulfillment by Amazon" service, which is used by many merchants. Starting April 17th, independent sellers listing products on Amazon's retail websites will be charged the fee. From May 2nd, Amazon will charge a premium for sending goods on behalf of merchants who sell on their own websites or other retailers.
