I was short Sandisk for a period of time.
When Sandisk was at 500, I was bullish on Micron. I believed HBM had a greater advantage than NAND, and I was worried Sandisk would become the second SMCI, so I was very bearish on it.
Based on this, I posted bearish views and shorted Sandisk when it corrected from 600 to 500, with a small position of thirty thousand USD directly shorting. Sandisk continued to rise from 550 to around 800, and I admitted defeat and closed my position. The continued rise indicated the market narrative for the entire NAND sector was also grand, so I flipped from short to long at the 900 level and have held until now.
This is a simple matter, but I got inexplicably scolded. A Longbridge community member with the ID abgh nevemind has been scolding me for three months. It might seem like a personal grudge to outsiders, but I don't even know him. At first, I argued back, but later I simply blocked him to avoid wasting time. The few posts he wrote have very low substance and are highly emotional.
Regarding his talk about 'carving out a persona', I don't need a persona. I'm just an ordinary retail investor. My main investment goal is to outpace inflation. I've been at it for over ten years, with not much experience but plenty of lessons. I can't compare to the many 'triple-your-money-in-a-year' folks in the community.
Shorting US stocks is a normal strategy. If you misjudge a stock, just correct it immediately. No one can be right all the time. If good opportunities arise in the future, I will still flip from long to short. My short on silver in January this year yielded decent returns, and I caught a wave of decline in QQQ in March.
I'm posting here to explain to community members who might not understand. There was never any talk of teaching people to go ALL IN on shorting; I myself use small positions.
On Longbridge, I mainly share US stock information and logic. If you agree, let's communicate more.
It's free for me to express bearish views and for you to express critical views about them. Whether views are right or wrong, discussion is normal. However, beyond expressing critical views, engaging in personal attacks for several consecutive months only shows your low character.
My overall investment philosophy in recent years is: US stocks have short bears and long bulls. Seize the AI main theme, focus on the core companies of each phase, specifically: NVDA/TSM (2023-2025) - DRAM/MU/SNDK/SK Hynix/INTC/AMD (2026-2027) - MRVL/NOK/GOOGL/TSLA (2027-2030).
Long stock + long calls (preferably over six months).
I play other companies less. I strongly advise against playing side-line stocks, especially not going heavy on their short-dated calls.
From now on, I will only exchange and share investment ideas with like-minded friends. For those who aren't a good fit, let's just not bother each other.
