$Sadot(SDOT.US) surged 67%. The catalyst was the closing of the $1.2 billion acquisition of UAE's Anira Consulting on 6/26. The consideration was structured in three parts: common stock + Class B convertible preferred stock + a $5 million convertible note. The stock price rose 89% on 6/26, and the momentum continued on 6/29.
Note that it also conducted a reverse stock split to adjust the float, which structurally distorts price signals. The story of commodity trading + consulting indeed has high elasticity, but the M&A through stock + preferred stock issuance significantly dilutes existing shareholders. Today's rally looks more like short-term momentum trading. Fundamental validation awaits the Q3 earnings report.
