The equipment sector moved in opposite directions across the two markets. On the US stock side, testing and metrology followed the optimistic sentiment around AI capital expenditure, while direct-write lithography equipment on the Hong Kong stock side was being sold off.
Both are classified as semiconductor equipment; one is pricing in the expansion cycle, while the other is pricing in the pace of domestic orders. These two sets of logic collided on the same day. How long can this divergence last, or is the Hong Kong side simply lagging behind in catching up? 😳
