Far East Orchard Limited has increased its stake in UK student housing operator HFS from 49% to 84%, making it a subsidiary. The $43.3 million deal is part of a phased acquisition that began in April 2024, with plans to acquire the remaining shares by November 2030. HFS co-CEOs will continue in their roles, and the company aims to expand its student housing portfolio and enhance efficiency and recurring income streams.

The $43.3m (£25m) deal marks the second stage of a phased acquisition that began in April 2024.
The company said it intends to acquire the remaining shares in HFS by November 2030, in line with the terms of its sale and purchase agreement.
HFS co-chief executives Martin Corbett and Graham Rogers will remain in their leadership roles to lead the company’s growth across the UK and Europe.
With HFS now under majority control, Far East Orchard aims to expand its student housing portfolio, boost efficiency, and increase recurring income streams.
