Meta's Instagram is exploring the development of a television application, planning to enter the large-screen video market and compete with YouTube

The head of Instagram hinted at the development of a standalone television application, hoping to further shift towards the video field and compete with YouTube. Adam Mosseri stated at the Screentime conference held in Los Angeles: "If user behavior and platform content consumption are shifting towards television, then we must also enter the television space." According to reports, he mentioned that the company is "exploring" the development of a television application, but added that there is currently no news to announce. He said: "We want to ensure that we can present in an engaging way across all relevant devices," and expressed that he hoped the company would have started researching and developing a television application years ago. Mosseri believes that the existing vertical video content on Instagram can be adapted to television formats, and he is not interested in licensing live sports events or other exclusive Hollywood content
