WENS President Li Shaosong: Leading enterprises must take the lead in capacity reduction; we have shut down seven pig farms nationwide

On November 2-3, the 2025 Pig Industry Development Conference was held in Xinxing, Yunfu, Guangdong. During the guest interaction session, WENS President Li Shaosong expressed his views on pig production capacity regulation. Li Shaosong believes that the core challenge facing the industry is the profit pressure caused by oversupply. "The deep losses in the industry caused by overcapacity are unbearable for many industry players. In response to this situation, first, we must strictly control new production capacity, ensuring fairness so that no one builds new facilities, thus controlling the increase in production capacity, which will help manage the total production capacity; second, we need to eliminate inefficient production capacity, especially in restricted breeding areas, particularly those that do not meet environmental standards and have incomplete documentation; these should also exit the market."
