The S&P 500 Index closed down approximately 1.2%, with the technology sector down 2.2%, and the consumer discretionary and telecommunications sectors down 1.7%.
The Nasdaq 100 Index closed down approximately 2.1%. Among the constituents, Palantir fell 8.6%, CDW fell 8.1%, Micron Tech fell 7.1%, MSTR fell 6.9%, Synopsys and Intel fell over 6%, Tesla fell 4.6%, while Marriott International rose 3.1%.
Caterpillar closed down 4.1%, NVIDIA fell 4%, Cisco, Boeing, Salesforce, and Amazon all fell at least 1.8%, leading the declines among Dow components, while Home Depot rose 1.2%, Merck rose 1.5%, and Travelers Companies Inc. rose 3.6%.
Among AI concept stocks, SoundHound fell 12%, Serve Robotics fell 9.9%, Palantir fell 8.6%, C3.ai fell 7.6%, CoreWeave fell 7.4%, and Intel fell 6.1%.
The semiconductor index fell 3.99%
