According to ZDNet South Korea, China's BOE Technology Group (000725.SZ) has failed to meet its plan to supply Apple (AAPL.US) with LTPO OLED panels for the iPhone 17 this year due to ongoing quality issues. The originally expected supply of 10 million LTPO OLED panels has been handed over to Samsung Display. Samsung Display's shipment volume is expected to increase from 80 million to 90 million units, while BOE's overall contribution to Apple's OLED supply may drop to below 40 million units.

The report indicates that BOE originally hoped to enter Apple's supply chain with its LTPO OLED panels, aiming to provide 10 million panels for the iPhone 17 Pro in the Chinese market. However, industry sources suggest that product reliability issues have hindered the company's ability to meet Apple's standards. The report also mentions that although BOE has supplied OLED displays for other brands such as OnePlus 15, the company lacks experience in producing LTPO OLED panels. Entering Apple's supply chain is seen as a significant milestone, but BOE has yet to resolve the technical challenges related to reliability and performance
