Canada – Mega gas-fired project advances

The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada has given a favorable early decision for Pembina and Kineticor's 1.8GW Greenlight gas-fired plant near Edmonton, Alberta. The project, valued at C$4.5bn, is expected to proceed faster through the regulatory process. It will include four gas/steam turbines and aims for a startup by 2030, with a 40-year operational lifespan. The sponsors have secured necessary allocations and agreements for grid connection and equipment delivery.
